CONFIRMATION 2010
- Sunday 25th April - 6pm at St. James Bermondsey
What is Confirmation - When I've been Baptised?
When you were Baptised (Christened) perhaps as a baby or small child your parents and godparents promised to bring you up to be a Christian. At Confirmation you will have the opportunity to make those promises for yourself.
The Bishop who takes the Service as well as asking you to make promises to 'follow Jesus Christ' will lay hands on your head and pray for you to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that you can live a Christian life.
What is Confirmation - When I have not been baptised?
At the Confirmation Service the Bishop will baptise anyone who has not been Baptised and then everyone will be Confirmed together.
What about taking Holy Communion?
The tradition in the Church of England is that you begin to take Communion at Confirmation. So the preparation groups cover Holy Communion.
What is Confirmation Preparation?
At Confirmation preparation we cover basic things about the Christian faith, like who is Jesus? Why the cross? How do I live as a Christian? Also teaching on Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion. We will be using easy to understand pictures as well as time for discussion.
What if I am not sure I am ready to be Confirmed?
If at the end of the preparation classes you do not feel ready to make the commitment of Confirmation no pressure will be put on you.
The decision is entirely yours.
When is Confirmation this Year?
SUNDAY 25th APRIL 2010 at 6pm.
This will be at St. James Bermondsey.
What about the Preparation Group?
This year St James will host the group. We will meet on Sundays at 5pm in St. James.
This is for all ages.
The dates are: 28th February, 7th March, 21st March, 28th March and 5th April (Gaps are to avoid Mothering and Easter Sunday).
